In a world that has increasingly more tools and opportunities, blaming others is the crutch of the lazy.
I have heard about “the good old boys club” most of my life. And I know there was a time when there was such a club…and it had influence. But the more I am involved in multiple communities (both personally and professionally) today, the more I see this exposed as a lie. Nearly every organization I have ever been a part of has been short of resources and help.
Those that seek to help and give of their time are nearly always welcomed.
And if you are not welcomed, you still have the opportunity to do that good work on your own.
The people who I have run into that blame the “good old boys club” are almost never willing to do the work. I say “almost” because I am sure there are exceptions. But I have repeatedly run into the person that flies the “good old boys club” flag. Each time I have invited them in to do the work. And each time, they decide they have more important things to do.
If you are willing to do the work, you can.
There is nothing standing in your way but excuses.
