2 Questions To Ask Yourself If You Want to Grow

questions to ask yourself if you want to grow

We live in an amazing time if you want to learn.  (I talk about the difference between learning and education here).  There are so many tools and resources if you want to learn how to do something.  If you need to fix your plumbing or start an LLC or drain your camper, you are just a Youtube video away.  It’s really awesome.

And yet, even with all of those tools at our fingertips, there are plenty of times we don’t take the opportunity to level up.  Why?  I think it’s because, while it is easier to learn, we still have to commit.  We have to be ready to look in the mirror and answer two questions.

Am I Ready To Invest The Time?

While it might be easy to commit to watching a 3 minute Youtube video, some learning still takes a real commitment.  Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University is an amazing course.  But it’s not 3 minutes.  It takes time.  We talk quite a bit about the investment of money in education, but often it’s really the time that’s holding you back.  Are you ready and willing to invest the time that it will take to level up?  If you want a better life, it’s a worthy investment.

Am I Ready To Do Something With The Knowledge?

Okay…so you are willing to invest the time.  That’s great.  It’s a huge first step that many people are unwilling to take.  Now, what will you DO with it?  Without the willingness to take action, the ideas can be worthless.  You can watch videos, read books, and attend seminars.  But if you are unwilling to consistently apply what you have learned there, then it’s just entertainment.

The greatest distance in the world is the distance between “I know” and “I do.”

And here’s the thing, the action you will need to take might be difficult.  Change often is.  And if it were easy, you might already be doing it!  So you have to be willing to make yourself uncomfortable (in the short term) and stick with it.

Those are the questions that are holding most people back.  If you want to level up in nearly any area of your life, the tools are probably out there.  But you have to be willing to put in the work.  You have to look in the mirror and ask yourself both of these questions…and answer yes.
