Make Hay While The Sun Shines

make hay while the sun shines

I woke up this morning to the sound of heavy rain outside my bedroom window.  It reminded me of the saying, “Make hay while the sun shines.”  (I like the idea of farming when building a business…not hunting).

For the last few months, business has been good.  The sun has been shining.  So we have been hard at work to “make the hay.”  So I found it symbolic that, on the first day of the new month, it was raining.

Is this a sign?  Are bad times ahead?  No…I don’t believe so.  It’s just a rainy day.

So what do you do when the sun is not shining?

For me, it’s time to continue to do the pro-active work that leads to the sunshine in the first place.  After a sunny season, it might be good to take a short break to rest.  We need that.  But we can’t rest forever.  We need to get back to doing the little things (planting the seeds) so that we can be ready for the next time it’s time to “make the hay.”
