Make a Positive Choice

by | Feb 16, 2017

Studies tell us that a full 90% of what we see in the world is negative.  If you are on social media with any regularity, I would think you might assume this is low.  Many thought that with the recent election cycle ending, the negativity would slow down.  But I think we can safely say it has not.  Negativity is, I am afraid, here to stay.

That’s the bad news.

But there is good news.  This current negative reality gives you several opportunities…to make things different.  Here are just a few.

  1.  You Can Stand Out:  When nearly everything in the world is negative, you can stand out in the minds of your customers and prospects by being positive.  This does not force you to be “better.”  By simply not spewing out the negativity and hate, you can be different to your customers.
  2. You Can Make a Difference:  Remember that everyone else is dealing with this same input of negativity.  By pushing out hope, you might be the inspiration for some other person today.  You might not even know it.  But that person (and the universe) will thank you for helping them.  A simple smile can make a difference.  So can a “thank you” or an act of kindness.
  3. It’s a Choice:  Though so much of what we see is negative, we can choose to change this by being more intentional with our inputs.  Change the people you follow on social media.  Change what kind of media you consume.  You can even just change the time that you consume.  I make a point to not watch any news just when I wake up or right before I go to bed.  No need to put that in my brain at the beginning and end of the day.

The point is simple.  If you choose to try and be more positive, you can not only make your life better, but you can impact the lives of others.

You can complain.  Or you can impact others.  It’s your choice.
