Happy New Year!  Congratulations you’ve been given a gift.  We all have.  But this year, the gift feels just a bit more special, doesn’t it?

The gift of this New Year is a clean slate.  Despite the challenges of 2020, we each have the ability to mentally turn the page.  While we all know that the virus does not just go away today, the New Year is always a chance to start over.  It’s a chance to take a fresh look at what we want from our lives…and begin the steps to achieve it.

We get this gift every year.

But many years we fail to appreciate it.  We fail to really open it.  We fail to truly take advantage of the gift of the New Year (or new month, or new week) for one reason.  We love to come up with ideas…but we don’t always love to execute.  The execution is the hard part.  It’s the grind.  But it’s also where the magic happens.  It’s where we truly unwrap the gift.

So on this New Year’s Day, I would encourage you to take the time to set your goals.  If you are not sure where to start, here is a simple technique using the 5 F’s.  Start there and write them down.  It is a simple but powerful step.  It’s the first step in opening the gift.
